An American blogger in Saudi Arabia bought her son a copy of Kate Perrys album One of the Boys only to find out the incredible process Saudi cops go through to censor partial nudity.
"The Saudi government is actually paying religious police members of the Committee for the Protection of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CVPVP) to remove the plastic wrap from these CDs, open up the CD cases, remove the front and back inserts, and carefully and painstakingly color in with a marker any photos baring exposed female flesh that is deemed objectionable.
Hence, while the general public is protected from such vulgarity, the CVPVP members get to view photos with womens flesh abounding and then get to stroke on colored markers over the exposed womens skin. I wonder what they are thinking or how they feel as they stroke those markers onto the smooth female flesh in the photos. I wonder if it makes them feel good that they are shielding young teenage boys from such crude displays of the nubile female form."

When I was in Saudi during desert shield/desert storm Margot Fountain, the noted British ballarina died. There was a picture of her doing an arabesque (sp) in a tutu. The religious police had marked over her legs and cleavage with black markers. You would read an article in a magazine and it would be continued on page such and such. The page was tron out because a liquor ad was there.

Kind of extreme if you ask me.
And then on the other hand, up-to-now average American college girls line up in the hundreds to audition for the "Foxy Lady" strip club in Rhode Island, and porn movies elsewhere (as more news reports are showing) all because "hey, the economy is bad".
Also extremes. I wonder how "they" view "that"? (Ohhh yes, al Jazeera airs that stuff over there).
Wonder which of these two cultures will experience the quickest cultural and moral meltdown, if we based it on these two examples alone.

What your comparison misses is that the Saudis (and other fundamentalist Muslims) are first rank hypocrites. Under this “moralistic” surface they are running orgies with their multiple child-brides, butt-boys and indulge in excesses in their favorite “Babylon” Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Actually, I bet they reserve that job for the hairy men under the burkhas-—the fire island rejects.

No argument there.
I just posed the academic question as to which society would fully rot out first. It is a theoretical question. Who can answer it? Saudi has a lot of hypocrisy. But we are also no saints (many Americans that is). Many think it is OK to abort a human, many think it is OK for two men to marry, many cast their vote for Satan himself, Obama, after all of the warnings.
There is no shortage of it (hypocrisy) in the US as well, such as Christian men tied up in online porn by the hundreds of thousands--reported in Christian publications themselves. Let's be frank and objective here.

I lost a coin toss and had to take some kids to a Katy Perry show. I ended up enjoying her performance and secretly bought the CD afterwards.
We've had worse pop idols.

These guys probably secretly pay hookers to let them stroke colored markers over their actual skin.

I heard all hell broke loose in Saudi after that fire with those little girls. I remember some of the Saudi editorials and online comments from Saudis condemning it. Horrid.

And the N.O.W. Sows didn’t utter a peep. Nor did the usual terrorist fellators amass in the streets for the cause of women’s rights, the way they did to prop up the Butcher of Baghdad.
