TRAVEL IN A STEALTH RV

Randy Vining is a unique character who chooses to live full time traveling the country in his "stealth" RV. When Randy stopped in Murphys for a few days, Producer, Paul Moeller decided to feature his interesting vehicle and lifestyle on a program for Public Access. Randy likes the anonymity his vehicle gives him. He can pull into any parking lot, or reasonable space and stop for lunch, or a nap, or wait out a storm, then pick up and be on his way. The vehicle is a featherweight cargo trailer converted through his own inventiveness into 84 sq. feet of living space. It contains a shower, toilet, holding tanks and a bed.

At least these have windows, unless that's what "stealth" means...

“The vents are really windows. He has solar panels on the roof. Its hard to believe that he can manage his favorite radio station, television, a computer desk and all of the comforts of what the rest of us call home, in such a small space.”

That’s an amazing photograph. Do you have a link for that?

Love those old trailers, much more quaint and functionally livable than the Barbie trailers made lately.

My Grandfather had one from the 50's w/walnut burled veneer interior walls, priceless.

Nice. I’m considering buying a good used RV and being a full-timer.

The Casita mfg. plant is right on IH-45 (between Dallas and Corsicana, TX)... when I trek down to College Station for TAMU Fighting Farmer football games I remind myself that some day I'm going to buy one (not sure if I'd go with the 13', 16', or 17' model):

Yes, I found his link and have been reading. Don’t know if I could get used to van living, but maybe a fifth-wheel or travel trailer.

Problem around this area is many of the mobile home/RV parks have some drugheads living there too. Other areas in the state don’t have that problem, but for now I mostly need to be in this area. Just want to downsize and get back to simpler living.

Will do more reading about it.

This is our third year as fulltimers/workampers at a luxury RV resort jam packed with amenities. It’s not exactly a hard-luck life. You can get a lot of information and find job postings at workamper.com.
Generally, for 20-25 hrs per week you’ll receive a site that includes electricity, water/sewer, cable and wifi. also store and propane discounts and full use of the facilities. Many places pay wages for additional hours worked. Here and elsewhere you also can receive a nice bonus at the end of the season.

Yes, get yourself a nice 3 season RV with plenty of storage.
None of us are living like hippies : D

With a little bit of creative painting I could do the same thing to a converted Mayflower trailer, plus get free passes to all the NASCAR events.

My kids and I built one last year with birch interior and red oak exterior. These were taken 2 weeks ago. BTW ,travel is NOT stealthy with this one.

Sounds great. This would be my first time having an RV, so I know nothing, totally nothing, about them. I’m trying to decide is it too much to learn at this point so just move to an apartment....or maybe it’s not that much to learn??

Wouldn’t mind doing the workamper thing, have heard about that before. Have an elderly relative in the area whom I check on for now, but have definitely thought about workamping in the future.

Wanted to maybe get used to living in an RV here, then travel some with it in a few years. But as I said earlier, the mobile home/RV parks around here have problems with the druggies. So, I’ve hesitated about buying one just yet (besides being concerned about the learning curve on upkeep, etc.).
