My son called me one day and said, “What are you up to Mom?” I told him I was getting ready to go to the grocery store.

He said, “How do you get ready?”

I told him I had to fix my hair, and put on makeup;
Then make sure my top is ironed, and my socks match;
Check to make sure there are no straggly eye-brows,
Make a quick check of the nails - and file any rough edges,
He interrupted me, saying, “MOM! You’re old! No one is going to notice what you look like!”

Little does he know - if I went to the grocery store without getting a little ‘gussied up’, I would run into someone whom I haven’t seen in ages.

The next thing she would do, would be to get on the phone:
“Guess who I ran into today? YORKIE! OMG, gurl - you should SEE how she’s let herself GO!” LOL!

You do not know how true everything you said is really! I have had to run to just get bread, milk and a couple items and I will see at least two people I know. I always say to them “Gee, I was hoping I could run in and out of here without running into someone I know!” Of course, the ‘nice’ person will always say “you look just fine” when I know I look like the dickens!”

We’ve all been there, done that! Good to see ya, yorkie! I have to do my face before I go and straighten up hair....the nails can’t wait even though they need filing. And I just removed some polish Thursday that was chipped awful. I usually don’t let my nails go BUT....I did that time.
