Pippin, the sandwich was excellent! I mixed the mayo with some poppy seed salad dressing and thought I had found the Elixir of Life!

sion, there are just some things that are persistent...but I thank you for your wishes. My back was no doubt aggravated by the weather as well as the exertion of dismantling the bed by myself. Since my little “accident” in AR, my back has pretty much ruled. BUT! I shall NOT complain! (The pain keeps me humble!)

Is the family all back together, now, TC? There are still four hours of Conference (tomorrow) but so far, I haven't shed any tears. Don't know what that's all about...maybe my eyes are waiting....

Doesn’t Mr. Chick care that you sleep with Mr. Catz?

It's a time-share. He can't have Wednesday.

We’re all back home now, and will shortly put everyone under 12 to bed. Maybe we’ll practice tomorrow’s music a bit. On Sunday, I’ll have all the new Hispanic people singing, so at least we’ll be loud!

My Chinese boy who plays the piano says he can come on Monday for the memorial service, so we’ll have piano on two pieces, plus backup percussion!

Best of luck with your Conference! This is the national church meeting?

I heard The Fountainhead was good, but I’ll be darned if I heard what it was about.

If it’s depressing, or falls into the category of “drama,” I probably don’t want to watch it. Or read it.

How is that Chinese boy doing? Music is a language all to itself! I’m always so amazed that something so beautiful can be accepted no matter where you are from, or what your alphabet looks like.

The Conference is international, twice a year. The first weekend in April is the “annual” General Conference, when we acknowledge new “authorities” and give thanks to those that are “released.” (This is all volunteer, of course.) It’s also the time when we learn of how the church finances are kept, how many members, missionaries, etc., since the last General Conference, as well as things spiritual.

In October, we will have the “semi-annual” General Conference, when most of what is talked about is mostly spiritual, but also in keeping with the events of “today,” and how to maintain our spirituality in a world so filled with so many things that are not in keeping with the Savior’s Message of morality and spirituality.

It sounds like your Easter will be Noisily Joyful! It is such a celebration!

Joseph, the Chinese boy, is a massive overachiever - he plays piano and saxophone, as well as percussion (with the high school marching band and the Spanish choir), volunteers at the hospital, gets A’s in everything, and might be going to a state-run science boarding school in Durham next year. I know he’s been testing and visiting up there; he can tell us how it’s going on Monday. His family is from Hong Kong, and both children and the mother play classical music.

There’s no Spanish Mass for Easter, so we get don’t have to perform at all. Some of us will go to the Saturday night Vigil service, and others to the 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Then we’ll have the whole day off to observe Bill’s birthday, a few days late.

We’re having a potluck lunch after the Spanish service tomorrow. I need to make some rolls to go with the “butter lamb” one my Sunday School students gave me!

Our Spanish congregation is about 200 - not enough to put in a separate service. Maybe next year we can have a bilingual service, if we start planning early.

I could lector, in English or Spanish, but I have to keep children in line! I like to go to the earliest service on Easter, best chance of getting a parking spot and a seat. We’ll probably start the Spanish service tomorrow at least a half hour late, because the 11:00 a.m. Mass will run WAY long. People who only come to Mass a few times a year always seem to pick the 11:00!

The Scottish thread was the only other one I’ve been pinged to today. Was that the one?

The 11:00 gives them time to get over the night before, have breakfast, and get their Things In Order before showing up.

Joke: Why is Easter morning the best time to drive in Los Angeles?

Is there a good time to drive in Los Angeles?

I’ll have to be up early to make the rolls. Should have done it this afternoon, but I was resting!
