Military personnel report UFO

Military personnel reported a UFO to a Missouri Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) field investigator regarding a March 1 incident over government property.

The investigator reports that the story originated in the Kansas City, KS, and Kansas City, MO area. Fort Levenworth is nearby and just north of these two cities in Kansas.

The military personnel reported seeing a ball-shaped object at 10:30 p.m. Some of the witnesses stated that the object was 3,000 feet up, others said 200 feet. The silent object was described as a glowing gold color, slow moving, traveling only about 20 mph.

The military witnesses said that they feared being identified as they made their report.

In late summer of 1947 I was a small boy living in Morehouse, Mo. On a Sunday night, we witnessed two metallic objects circling above the ground on the south end of town. A number of years ago one of my best friends relayed a story to me. He said he was sitting on the back deck of his house when he spotted a silver object up in the sky just hovering there. He said he just sat there staring at it but didn't remember how long.

What was strange, according to him, was that he had no recollection watching the object until his memory about it kicked in 3 weeks later.........

Wasn’t there some famous UFO sighting around the same area? I think some police officers were the main witnesses.

I was pondering the difference between current UFO reports and older ones before I even read the account from 1947 included in your post, but it seems to confirm what I was thinking. It seems like most UFO reports used to be of “solid” objects, usually “saucer” shaped, and usually “metallic”. Today’s UFO reports often have none of those and rarely, if ever, have all 3 of those. It seems nowadays we hear about “orbs” and “balls of light”. Is this just my imagination? Any thoughts?

A couple of thoughts. Moving so slowly it could have been a balloon that was lit.

Ten years ago there was a story in this area about a UFO at night out in the western end of the county. The cops went out and reported they could see it. They watched it and then went to where it was hovering over. It was a person flying a kite with lights.

Sometimes it’s just people having fun. A little spice of life.

I had a memory open up in my mind like that once. It was about 3 hours after the experience. Very strange.

There have been several rwports by F15 & F16 pilots chasing UFO’s and firing on the UFO.

Usually one of two things happens, one the planes systems shut down until UFO’s is out of sight or the UFO just vanishes. One such report recently released involved a UFO the size of an aircraft carrier and several F15’s over the UK.
