I’ve just become sort of obsessive about this.
(A comment I just posted elsewhere explains why, not that you probably really want to know, just ranting.):
I think you are being way too generous. I think he is basically unintelligent - Ayers no doubt ghost-writ his books, his college paper about hating the military was such a piece of garbage that many half way intelligent high school kids could write something more readable. I doubt that he has read much, either. People who read a lot (other than crap reading) have a better command of the English language and have some basic grasp of general knowledge.
I think he is a brain damaged fraudulent hateful fool and he is someones’ tool, just to put the cherry on the s*** cake. He most likely doesn’t have “real” friends; narcissist thugs generally don’t. He uses people and others use him. Also his most likely sexually perverse past (and maybe not so long ago past) denotes grave emotional disorder and absence or stunted sense of morality, which he obviously suffers from.
I can hardly think of anyone in public office in the last few decades I have loathed more.
