When The Bible speaks of chariots and horses . . . it means chariots and horses . . . and at the very least—transportation.
In my experience, MUCH of the time—not always, literal meanings are the priority—EVEN WHEN there are obvious metaphorical meanings intended . . . metaphorical meanings—when they are intended at all—are more secondary.

Well, we disagree, I guess. I think the Bible is most profound when it is using metaphors, otherwise it is just a bunch of stories about what happened with no relevance to Gods deeper meaning.
