He drags out the same screeching notes every genre, every song. To me, he's like watching Liza Minelli getting her nails pulled off while fronting an 80s hair band.

Very succinct and sums it up nicely.

I said this last week, too. I wish he would just sing. No crazy notes, no yelling, no runs- just singing. Someone last night mentioned how Steven Tyler, Robert Plant, and a few others also hit those sort of notes. That's true, but they don't do it in every single song.

Vocally it reminds me of a few seasons ago when Ace Young would put a falsetto part in every song. It's nice once in a while, but it gets old after a while.

I think if you go back and actually listen to their music, they did do it in parts of just about every song they did (the successful ones, anyway). Particularly Plant, Tyler, and Rose.

Adam's voice has a very similar style to those guys. And his tone is almost always pitch perfect, which is impossible unless you are extremely talented (Danny Gokey, last night, for example).

Kara's comments were dead on last night. Nobody is making music like those guys any more, and it's my absolutely favorite music. Give me GnR, AC/DC, Aerosmith, LZ, Ozzy, etc., and I'm a happy camper. The key will be in whoever is writing the music. Can anyone today write music like we had back then?

The music of those groups I listed hold up. They are very popular even among today's teens (I have two), and if someone new could come along and replicate the quality of those groups back then, they could do very, very well today.
