Unless the voting is over and it’s all busy signals now.

Please excuse the long-winded post, but I need to make some comments about tonight’s Le Pimpage De Adam and some peoples reactions to it.

First off, everyone can look back through the whole season and see that Adam has been at or near the top of my rankings every week. He has the best voice and best performance ability of all of the contestants, and has consistently been at the top.

However, to say that the judges overwrought Adam love affair tonight was anything but blatant unrelenting REACTION to last week is disengenuious. The judges statements and constant pimpage tonight had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with Adam’s performance tonight at all. He could have bitten the head off a kitten and the judges would have kissed his tushy anyway.

Too say that the judges comments should be ignored and Adam should not be “punished” for them being over the top is also off base — thier comments may directly affect peoples reactions to the other contestants, so it is equally fair for the judges slurp slurping of Adam to affect him.

I don’t care how good he is or has been (and he was just OK tonight), he does not deserve to get any benefit at all from the blatant manipulation of the judges tonight. If the pimpage had stopped at his performance it would have been one thing, but to BELITTLE and HARASS the other contestants with “ADAM THIS ADAM THAT ADAM BLAH BLAH BLAH AND YOU SUCK!” was just too over the top, and for that reason Adam needs to get the boot - period!

For me tonight was about the end of American Idol - I truly think that between the Judges silly crap with Adam and the assinine duet thing that tonight was AI’s Jump the Shark moment. The day started off bad with Paula admitting she has basically been a junkie for 12 years, and then the malfunctions before the show look like they were an omen of what was too come.

I am going to finish out this season, but I am seriously having doubts about watching next year. the show has about run its course and is in danger of becoming a parody of itself. Plus, I think we will be seeing Simon abandon the rapidly sinking ship, and possibly Paula too.

It has been a great 8 year run, but for me American Idol died a little bit tonight.
