He chooses "You Found Me" by The Fray.
He plays a stand-up keyboard IN the audience. He's surrounded by a small horde of Ashley Ferl tweens. And some middle aged men too. Odd.
The whole thing is desperate too. Being in the bottom three last week (which he reminds us repeatedly) has clearly freaked him out. He wants to "connect with the audience" so badly that he feels he has to sing in the audience.
The song is a mess anyway.
Paula: I appreciate that you went for a contemporary song. But you aborted the things we love about you. It became more of a sound-alike to the original. Wasn't a great performance for you.
Simon: It felt very put-on. Uptight. Not a good commercial song. You can frown all you like. You're becoming all these different people trying to stay in the competition.
Randy: It's not you. You're not a rock kinda singer.
Kara: You keep going between the rock side of pop and the R&B side of pop. You are talented guy and you don't deserve to go home.
Let's hope security was keeping an eye on those older guys in amongst the tweens. Either that, or let's hope the guys were the kids' dads.
As for Matt, I'm not a fan of his. Don't get what all the praise is about when he gets praised.
I got nothin’ to add re: M G.
