American Idol: Taylor Hicks Going The Distance

http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2009/03/23/american-idol-taylor-hicks-going-the-distance/

Season 5 American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks, is hoping that his new album, The Distance, will do just that…go the distance. He says his is exactly where he wants to be right now as a musician and a songwriter.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Taylor Hicks said, “I am thrilled to have the calibre of musicans on the record and I feel that strongly about the calibre of songwriting on the record.”

What does Taylor Hicks think is different this time about his new album, compared to his other recording? Taylor Hicks says, “The key for this particular project was time” He added, “I had the time to create the songs, time to record the music, time to really think about the producers that I wanted to work with and the writers I wanted to work with.”

Taylor Hicks says that he “feels blessed” to have the opportunities that he has had to be an entertainer in both music and in broadway by using American Idol as a platform.

Taylor Hicks who has been named, The Soul Man of American Idol is not singing this week during the 50 year celebration of Motown on the hit Fox show, which is surprising. It makes us wonder if they are holding onto his appearance for an Elvis themed week on American Idol?

Do you think that Taylor Hicks will go the distance with his new album? What theme week do you think he will perform on this season of American Idol?

I have sincere doubts that they will have him on. I think they will continue their snubbing of him. Hope I’m wrong, but we’ll see if he actually gets to be on a theme week and promote his new cd.

Taylor Hicks’ The Distance, which was also released March 10, enters the Billboard 200 at #58. It’s #5 on Top Independent Albums and #16 on Top Internet Albums. I’m wondering about the distribution channels on this CD as I tried to find it at Wal-Mart and was unsuccessful. (But we know you can get it through Amazon.com by clicking on the album’s name a couple sentences ago!)

Ordered mine from Wal Mart, online.

Thanks for that, Netizen!

I saw Taylor in “Grease” last weekend. He was very funny, sounded great and the crowd loved him. Met him after the show. It’s interesting, he’s such a wild man onstage, but one on one, he’s very soft-spoken, calm, and shy.

He has said in interviews that he will definitely be on AI this season, so...we’ll see.
