I don’t know, I love Iron Maiden, but that Number of the Beast song seemed to be ‘selling out’ to the “superbad Satanists” trend of the time.

Like Run to the Hills, the Number of the Beast (Song) is annoying. But the cartoonish looking devil with Eddie serving as a puppet master of sorts seemed to act as more of a spoof than actual seriousness of the subject.

Also TNOTB was just some guy dreaming about the world worshiping the anti-christ. It was a condensed version of Rev. Ch 12-13. Those looking to hear about "all hail to satan"/Venom stuff were disappointed.

if you really listen to the lyrics of “The Number of the Beast” it tells a story of a man being tempted by satanic rituals.

Maiden is one of the best rock-n-roll bands of all time. Unlike the hair bands of the ‘80’s, Maiden are TRUE musicians. They actually studied music and applied it to their songs.

Steve Harris writes some amazing lyrics, many songs based on historic characters.

Up The Irons.
