Hate to say it in this instance, but . . . . I told you so.
When I wrote a column about how Bristol Palin remains a single mother--a baby mama--and had no legitimate reason to prolong getting married, several worshippers at the alter of St. Sarahmessiah told me I was wrong, that these two kiddie-parents (the Palin daughter and boytoy Levi Johnston) would be married this summer.
But, you see, I never believed they'd be married. In fact, I thought their engagement was a fiction put on by the Palin family to help win the Presidential election. And, unfortunately, I was right. As I noted, this kid had a very pretentious name ("Tripp Easton Mitchell Johston"), but not what was far more important--a father married to his mother....
But the issue I do care about is who will be the next Republican Presidential nominee. And how so-called social conservatives continue, with a straight face, to praise baby grandmama Sarah Palin (and chose her as their conservative of the year). She was not at home, when the pregnancy happened. She was busy blindly chasing her ambitions. And this is what happens when you have a working mother and a Mr. Mom, i.e., the Palins. Now, Todd Palin can proudly wear a new title, Mr. Grand-Mom....
The only one I feel sorry for here: this kid, who has the misfortune of being born to a single mother in a family that has far more pretensions than actual good values. Good luck, Tripp. You'll need it. For your sake, I wish it were otherwise.

Yeah and if I were voting for Pope or bishop or some other ecclesiastical office I would do the same. There is not a president in the history of the US that would meet the standards some of the purists here are putting forth. May I point out that voting for Governor Palin is NOT a vote for BRISTOL? I hope you are never judge by the behaviour of your parents, grandparents, children, or grandchildren. Throw that first stone since y’all seem to be so fine.
Keep telling yourself that. Once SarahPAC releases it's first numbers and she starts touring the US for Conservative Candidates and attends events for Conservative causes, you will see who is the GOP powerhouse.

C’mon, you were involved in the over 700 posts on the thread yesterday that said this was going to happen. Whenever anything comes up about Sarah and her family decisions you guys go nuts.
I go nuts over the standards in political debates slipping into slimey, gossipy, tabloid mud. Maybe you like it.
You think there are no young women Bristol's age who don't have premarital sex or an illegitimate child?I am sure there are lots who don't but we also don't hear on the news every day that 99.99% of people drove to work and returned home with no mishaps;it is the accidents and carnage that make the evening news.
I realize that even among so-called conservatives and Catholics there is widespread hypocrisy regarding sex.When I married in the 1990s my fiancee's friends ,all "nice",church-going women in their forties were shocked,...that I didn't just move in!Her daughter's girlfriends' mothers,at baby showers for their illegitimate grandchildren,also asked when she was going to have a baby!!??!(SO I was told later.)
It actually seems that many women are no longer concerned whether their or their children's baby's father is married to the mother.The women gather to ooh and ahh over the new mother and infant.After all the courts can enforce child support and there are Aid to Dependent Children,WIC,Section 8 housing,And Welfare to furnish the food.clothing,and shelter.

I doubt that the Palins will press for it. They can offer themselves the child economic and social stability. The father’s family shouldn’t be involved anymore. Let the strings go.
Goodness gracious, get a grip. I simply pointed out that people vote based on what they believe. You really need to step back and stop seeing everyone with whom you disagree as stupid or evil. I have not thrown a single stone. In fact, my point has been that this is going to cause Palin problems if she runs for President. It has zero to do with what I think about the situation.
I KNOW she is not running for church office;I simply point out that one proven successful in managing a small group is more likely to be successful in managing a larger operation.

Apparently Mr. Obama is what the majority of Americans wanted because they voted for him affirmatively or by simply failing to vote.

Ideally both parents would. If not, I am OK with either parent being 24/7 caretaker while the other is the hunter/gatherer. Limited thinking that only women have the responsibility to stay home leads to more abortions, imho.
BTW, in Sarah’s case it is “infant” singular, not plural. Her other kids at home being 7, 13 and 17.
Maybe. But it's entirely more likely that she simply guessed the outcome. Statistically-speaking Bristol & Levi's never had much of a chance.

In Ms. Schlussel's case, I'd say that she was created by mistake.
