I suggested on another thread the institution of a new conservative political party that would overcome the disadvantages normally associated with alternate parties (e.g. dilution of voting power).

Well thought out. I would argue though that it is too slow to start fresh...we should ‘take over’ the GOP structure. It is all setup, the marketing is done, the silent conservative majority feel ‘ok’ with it. So if we take it over and steer it on a true constitution based course, millions will support it because it is the Republican/GOP...a name they know (or think they know). The far left did the same thing with the Democrats...they took it over from the inside and changed it to fit their needs and agenda.
Taking over an established group whether political or not, has a lot of advantages. Starting from scratch and getting momentum is VERY hard...even with the early momentum that Ross Perot gave the Reform Party, they fizzled to nothing today. Having a group (GOP) with millions of ‘blind’ supporters is very advantageous...just like the other party (Dems) with their millions of blind supporters.
