Did you know that the Japanese launched thousands of bomb carrying balloons toward the US during WWII? They hoped to start fires in the West and divert resources away from our war effort.
First they said it was a Flying Saucer from Outer Space. We--the children and the teacher--figured it probably was--shrugged it off--moved on to the next subject.
Then they came out with the WHOPPER that it was a weather balloon. Everybody laughed. (Some little boy in class showed the newspaper clipping during "sharing"). Nobody believed that one. "They can't tell the difference between a balloon and a flying saucer?????"
Nobody fell for that one.
I still haven't.
They were all fairly small, and made of material with which people in the US were familiar. The same cannot be said of the Roswell debris.
