Two very uncontrolled things happened to WTC-7. First, two very large neighbors dropped heavy pieces of themselves on it in the process of their own demises. Second, some of that s#1t was on fire, and uncontrolled fire broke out in a building rendered too structurally unsound for an already casualty-ridden NYFD to enter and suppress.
If anybody made any insurance money on the deal, good for ‘em. That's why you pay insurance premiums in the first place.
As to the rest, I call it crackpot-by-association (with the “controlled demolition” crackpottery, and decline to be affrighted.
