September 30, 2000 Lockeridge, Wiltshire, England - Recently I received the above photograph from Amica Kusaka, a resident of Kusaka, Okyamaa, Japan. Before sending the color print, she e-mailed me the following information:
"It is the Lockeridge formation. The date was 21st July. It was around 8:00-9:00 pm. This was the day I just arrived to England and the first complex formation I walked in. There wasn't anything unusual. The sun was going down and I think the sun was on my front left hand side. I was with my friends (3 Japanese) and there were two men and a woman in there with me. But when I took this photograph, I was alone. This was (my) first time to see and be in crop formations.

first visited the site soon after discovery to measure and sample plants. In addition to their
diagram around August 1, the aerial photograph also shows eight circles in the tail.
A week after that first visit, Dutch physicist Eltjo Haselhoff, Chairman of the Dutch CCCS crop circle research organization, called Boerman to ask about another visit so that Eltjo could do his own sampling and measurements. So, on Tuesday, August 7, 2001, Boerman and his nephew, Bobbink, returned to the latest Stadskanaal formation with Haselhoff.
In his website report about what happened, Robert Boerman wrote: "After we were ready with the sampling, we took some nice photos (of) ourselves for the archive and I had to go to the tail to take some pole shots of the head of the formation. When I entered the 8th circle, I was stupefied to see that there was a brand new circle added to the tail! I counted and re-counted the circles of the tail. There were 9 circles instead of the 8 we counted before. During our research, there was an extra circle added. Just like that, and we didn't see or hear anything. About ten minutes before, Jan Willem had taken some samples from the last circle, the 8th of the tail, and he didn't see a new circle. He is 200% sure that there wasn't a new circle at that time."

Update On Unique British Crop Formations

He's referring to a year ago on June 6, 2000 when Nick found another unusual formation in barley near Seaton southwest of Wakerly village and Barrowden. Biophysicist W. C. Levengood was involved in the Seaton research and concluded that formation was defined by barley plants that stood at least six inches shorter than the rest of the crop, an example of controlled and very specific retarded growth. The implication was that some kind of energy touched the growing barley in the pattern at least a month before the formation was discovered in the Seaton field.

EDITOR'S NOTE ABOUT TIME LINE OF EVENTS: Since the interviews below with Winchester farm owner, Mike Burge, and his farm hand, Sydney Collis, Charles Mallett in Cherhill, England confirms that www.cropcircleconnector.com was contacted by e-mail on Thursday, August 15, about the Winchester formation. Also contacted by e-mail that day (by the same person who mailed the connector) was researcher and photographer, Lucy Pringle in Hampshire. Mike Burge and Sydney Collis both were in the cherry picker above the field on Monday afternoon, August 12, and are adamant the wheat field was perfectly normal then. So, the possible creation period is Tuesday night, August 13, producing what seemed to be a partial formation according to farm worker, Sydney Collis, who found "marks in the wheat" at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 14. That leaves Wednesday night into Thursday as other possible creation times. The formation notification first went out by e-mail on Thursday, August 15, followed by an Ocean FM radio report on Friday morning, August 16, around 9 a.m..
