If this is the first time these folks have seen these trails in the sky, I wonder where they've been for the last 60 years... That's the REAL tinfoil question.

They ARE vapor trails. I fly an airliner and they are called contrails also. They occur naturaly depending on the moisture content of the air. Sometimes you can see them on takeoff and landings when the air is thick.
