A little known tool that will tell you in which country an item is made, is to check the first 3 numbers in the UPC code - just under the barcode. Start with the little one off on the side, then the next two are under the barcode. They are the country code.

I looked at some coupons I clipped and they don’t have a 999 code.
Where did you get that list anyways?
I did a google search on the barcodes and it says the information is not the country of origin, but the participating country. I think where the company is headquarted, maybe.
