Thanks for the link, that sounds like the same type of stove, but I did not see or missed the welding in of a top plate, so there is a flat area the full length of the stove.

Bill cut out the ‘top’ of the side of the barrel and then joined a flat piece of iron, to the two sides. A strip of about 10 or 12 inches.

LOL, it works.
