My son and I have laughed at the green projects on HGTV. We’ve lived that way for generations. The liberals are just figuring it out. We garden, recycle, care for the land etc.<<<
As do I.
I called myself an “Organic Gardner” back in the early 1960’s and had started earlier than that.
Now they identify me as a “Rodale “ follower which is an honor, for he spent a lifetime teaching organic.
As for recycling, that I have done all my life, it was always fun to go to the dump with my dad, for he too could find things to re-use at the ‘city - exchange’.
Welcome to the thread, we need more of you to share your experiences and current actions, that is how we learn.
I would have to be really hungry, before I ate soy cheese again.
It was always fun to go to the dump>>
For years, the children and I worked to keep hubby away from the dump. He always came back with more than he took. He was in collaboration with the dump attendant, who would set aside “treasures” for hubby to rehabilitate. However, now, years later, he loves to drag out something useful for us from his dump collecting days. Of course, dump collecting was banned many, many years ago. For years, we never bought a lawn mower. There were always many perfectly good ones at the dump in the spring, discarded by someone who had bought a bigger, better model. Hubby doesn’t have any junk, only really good “stuff” that just needs a little TLC.
My son started expounding on the virtues of organic a while back, I responded with “what do you think we've been growing for years?”
Am adding s small greenhouse “6 x 10” this summer so we can do a better job of growing from seed and wintering over.
Have a wonderful group of Master Gardeners as a support group. Most state Agricultural schools have a program/degree for the general public, even Alaska has a program. What I don't know someone in the group has experience with or knows how to find out the answer. We also have direct links to Purdue in Indiana.
