Nuts freeze well too>>>> Yes, for the last two years, a local store has had all of their nuts in the shell marked 75% off right after Christmas. I buy 10-15 lbs. of walnuts and pecans, hubby shells them and pops them in the freezer in glass jars. They add a lot to a blah meal, plus they are nutritious. Chicken salad sandwiches are yummy with chopped walnuts for crunchiness. Walnut or pecan halves add a lot to a fruit salad. Sticky buns with chopped pecans rolled into the bun and pecan halves on top can't be beat. Just for a snack in the evening, they are great and rolled into homemade popcorn balls are pretty special too.
