White House Will Get a Vegetable Garden

Obamas Prepare to Plant White House Vegetable Garden

WASHINGTON - On Friday, Michelle Obama will begin digging up a patch of White House
lawn to plant a vegetable garden, the first since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden
in World War II. There will be no beets (the president doesn’t like them) but arugula
will make the cut.

While the organic garden will provide food for the first family’s meals and formal
dinners, its most important role, Mrs. Obama said, will be to educate children about
healthful, locally grown fruit and vegetables at time when obesity has become a
national concern.

In an interview in her office, Mrs. Obama said, “My hope is that through children,
they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate
our communities.”

ROFL - So now the USDA standard for ORGANIC lets you take a pesticide ridden, herbicide laden, commercially fertilized piece of ground and it becomes 'pure' because Mrs. Øbama so declares it so.

While I applaud the encouragement of people to grow their own food, why should they pervert the Organic principles.

Well, I guess maybe they are planning a huge compost pile to utilize all the BS in DC. Somebody please tell them though that the spillover from all that putrid pork barrel garbage will contaminate their compost.

I wonder if the US Air Force will be tasked with collecting 'global mulch' from all over the world to support their universalized project. Hey NASA, we need some of that moon dust here... Can you also bring back something from Mars for us?

OK, maybe I am being a bit cynical this morning... But when the President goes on a nightly talk show and equates his bowling score to an equivalent Special Olympics one, I remain a skeptic of their genuine sincerity.

Is it just me, or do others also lack confidence in their motivations?
