I don’t keep a huge amount of ammo - I have been shooting for about as far back as I can remember - Used to take a 22 to high school along with ammo - we had a rifle team - backstops in the gym. I taught marksmanship at 4-H camp, was on ROTC rifle team in College, Post rifle and pistol teams in the Army, even competed in IV Army Championships - Officially qualified as Expert in a couple of weapons and unofficially on several more - (Man that .50 Cal. BAR is a sweet gun) But, I don’t figure on throwing a whole lot of lead around and making a whole bunch of noise to scare people off. I always learned that if you are going to shoot at it, be intending to do it with one well placed shot. I can hunt two years on a box of 12 Ga. shot shells and a couple of 5 packs of slugs. My father would shoot 2 or 3 times at a flock of ducks that he didn’t have a chance of hitting and I would always wait till I had the shot I wanted, and seldom missed getting one - and a few times two with a single shot. So, I don’t figure I need 10,000 rounds like some do. On the rogues invading, I think it is lots more effective if they hear a bang and one of them goes down than to hear a lot of noise and nobody gets a scratch - my way scares the ..... out of them and the other way emboldens them.
We don’t have a large stash of ammo. Guess we are more what you are saying. We have a lot, but not with the focus of starting a war. For hunting and protecting our own. Safety in numbers includes having enough like-minded people with us to make it not look like good odds to mess with us. We haven’t got the amount of people figured out, we are just targeting those we see who we know will work and contribute. However, we do have ammo and will probably get more supplies for reloading. Nothing should be left to chance.
