Dolly, I read about your airport ‘fun’. I don’t envy you at all. I remember when we would be offered a choice of beef, (filet mignon), chicken (breast, such as cordon bleu) or fish (halibut or shrimp and lobster), when we boarded a plane.
Luggage was transported free, and water, coffee, tea, soda, juice and soft drinks were free. Wine, liquor and beer were a minimum charge. Then, (seems like overnight), we were offered a package of peanuts - which didn’t last long. Now we get pretzels (if we are on a flight with a ‘generous’ airline.)
Sky Harbor in Phoenix is an airport I hope to never have to board from ever again. I had a hip replacement six years ago, and my friend has a rod and ten screws in her spine. We were taken to a security room, and for almost an hour, were felt, examined, x-rayed, almost totally undressed, and every single thing in our carryon luggage was scanned, physically examined (think Florida chads), and x-rayed. Then, they opened and emptied our purses - examining (again, think FL chads) every single item, including credit cards, library card, membership cards, etc. They then removed the money - holding it up, examining each bill and coin. I was even made to open my hand that held the five dollar tip for the lady who brought us to the security area, and it was held up to a light. It was a lengthy, humiliating experience.
I am so sorry about wheelbarrow’s tooth problem. As if this move isn’t more than enough for him to cope with.
Your neice is beautiful - takes after her auntie. Thanks for the update, Dolly! ((((hugs))))
Oh Yorkie! what a terrible ordeal you and your friend experienced!
Yes flying is not the fun event it used to be..911 changed many things. I too recall the great food & MORE direct flights that failitated ease & benefits like the full meals.
changing industry.
What a horrid tale, yorkie! And I didn’t know you had a hip replacement either!! That trip you discussed was a total nightmare it seems. But I must say this...I would rather go through what you went through than go down in a bombed, blazing plane! I always console myself with that scenario!
I must get to Dolly’s post soon...that gal has a ball no matter what she does, doesn’t she?
Have a wonderful day!
