One of the things that surprised us, after we got it all set up, was that we had in effect a natural air circulation system.
What happens is that the air in a Habitat warms up and expands with the diurnal cycle. But where does it expand to?
It expands to the next Habitat, where the cool of the evening has created a partial vacuum. Because we have three Habitats, a pattern has developed similar to “prevailing westerlies”.
It is so dependable and regular that we have suspended use of powered ventilation fans in our major areas.
It wasn’t necessary to save energy, but the air flow seems gentler and “more natural” this way.
