There was a short story awhile back, I will have to see if I can find it again, where Mars was being terraformed under domes.
They had an aggressive Mars specific bioengineered grass rug.
Well, long story short, the rug ate the dog.

"Well, long story short, the rug ate the dog." Even on Mars, "if you snooze, you lose".
I'm working on a story like that myself. With an organic carpet, you don't have to vacuum.

Flying sharks, bear cavalry, penguin armies.
All that's needed next is a vaguely threatening
turnip.

I've read a couple of books where the Author came up with living furniture that actually enjoys being sat on.
Can't remember the titles though. Should still be in my library.

Hiya, Kiddies!
My goodness! Y’all are pretty frisky for mornings before coffee. (Mine.)
I’m home! The critters didn’t like my absence. The catz just looked at me through slitted eyes and went back to sleep. Of course, they were mumbling something to each other.
The birds were silent. Until I came back in from unloading the truck. Now they are happy. The catz? They aren’t talking.

Rrrrrr..... Slow starting this morning. But I’ve taken the day off for my trip to the Capitol, so that’s okay. Am on deck at 12:30.

Howdy! Not quite afternoon, here. About 2.5 hours, yet.
But that’s OK! For now, the sun is shining, and the wind isn’t too strong.
