They drink a lot of rum in the Caribbean as well. That could explain their culinary tastes.

There’s a lot to be said for rum.

Yes. But none of it with a great deal of coherence.

Coherence is overrated.

Wednesday is back from the vet. She got an antibiotic shot, and she’s very unhappy. It remains to be seen whether she will use the sandbox now.

I’m back from the dentist. Don’t think I’ll use the sandbox either.

Ouch. Maybe she’ll get over it later.

She’d like me to go to bed so she can sit on me and tell me how miserable her life is, but I have to make supper! She’d also like the dog and all the boys to leave home. Wednesday and I are actually a lot alike, but I have to pretend!

Well, the coffee lava coming out from near the ferns is sweetened.
The stuff coming out from near the red cedar is unsweetened and vey strong.

Vorpal squirrels?
Check.
Warp bunnies.
Check.
Yeah, we’re doomed.

I’m just wondering; when we set up our aerostat habitats in the Venusian atmosphere, should we populate some of them with zombified animals to tend the plants?

Or would that be likely to produce undesired side effects?

Hmm.
Breed an animalfeed plant that is naturally high in caffiene.
Then turn loose the caffiene zombified animals to tend to the hab.
Sounds like a plan to me.
But I’m a fountain of bad ideas, so if it sounds good to me that usually means undesirable side effects are guaranteed.

We’re fortunate that much of the making of Venus suitable for man can be done by existing plants. Problem is, we still have to build the structures for them to occupy.

What we really need are some bio-engineered organisms that can spread around the planet on their own. Then we move in and take over.

When settlers came to North America, they made much of what they needed to survive out of the existing forests. It will slow down our colonization attempts if we have to grow our own trees.

No. Quite right. The animals will have to wait.

We’ll concentrate on plant modifications first. Presumably, we’ll also have to depend on robotic manufacture.

Oh, well. That’s how we make cars. What could go wrong?

So okay, we get a lot of extra empty habitats. Just make sure there are plants in all of them and it will work out.

It will work out fine.

Good night all. Looks like I am going to the state capitol tomorrow, suit and all. Wish me luck (and prayers, if you’re the praying kind) — for us this is a big issue.
