We had food. Ash is eating what’s left of the brocolli. Now it’s time for the catz to have food. And the offspring can being going to bed in 15 minutes.
Oops. LoM learned a bill we want killed is headed to a hearing Tuesday. Had to go away, write some letters and fire off e-mails.
I hope you fixed it.
Thanks. Me too, but it got out of the House on a unanimous vote. My best guess is that there are federal grant monies behind it — it’s really hard to persuade legislators that what they’re buying into carries hidden costs that are highly likely to exceed what they get in “free” money.
You have my sympathies. I’m sure you have the same questions about your government officials that we have about ours: Are they evil, corrupt, or just plain hawg-stupid?
They aren’t held accountable for bad decisions — the public itself rarely gets beyond sound-bite level, even during elections. Only the really spectacular screwups ever get noticed.

We’ve had various forms of white stuff fall in the past hour, but it’s too warm at 39F for it to last. Wind remains in the forecast — not good when one is surrounded by TALL trees...
Morning (except now late evening)!
Raining here all day, so Mrs NonLinear and I left church and busied ourselves with indoor pursuits in town.
I just finished reading “Gorky Park” moments ago. It took me a little while to get engrossed in it, but couldn’t put it down for the last 3 hours!
How’s your lake level?
Hartwell is still really low. Corps of engineers manages Hartwell, so no surprise there. If Duke handles Norman, I bet you are not far from full pond.
I read a couple of books by the same author. I didn’t really like them, but once I got started, I wanted to know how it ended!
Lakes are very high around here right now, and so are little drainage ponds and the often-dry streams that are presently running over the roads. Cane Creek Lake, over near Waxhaw, washed out part of its dam earlier this winter.
We’re renting a house at Lake Norman in September; it will be nice if water levels are higher than the last time, when you could practically walk across it!
Everyone must be at work today! I’m waiting for 10:00 (9:00 central) to call our doctor in Tulsa about Anoreth’s tonsillectomy records. It looks like she’ll be joining the Coast Guard this summer, if all goes well with her placement tests and medical exam. At least, with having to finish the semester at college and then wait on paperwork, she should still be here when the Brother is born.
The scavengers are slavering after her room! We moved Vlad in with the little girls last night.

This is the day we drink red wine and eat salads, right?
Finnish wine. From Finnish vineyards.
I don’t think the Super Walmart sells Finnish wine.
You might try the Super Seinäänmarkkinoille.
Work is calling...
