Has anyone else been prompted to download this update in priority? Is it an absolute security issue or can it safely be ignored? I'm on dial-up with no other service available where I live. (KB951847) x86
Probably not. I live on the north slope of a steep ridge. From what I'm hearing unless I downloaded this late at night it would about max out the allotted usage. And with my luck if I did get it and it worked COMCAST would change their minds LOL.
You’d have to find the “download and install elsewhere” version of that particular update, if it exists. Searching MS site might tell you this or direct you to a downloadable and deploy later version of the patch update.
This file would NOT be the patch that you would receive when you select “Tools - Windows Update”. I could be wrong on this since I haven’t done this before (download for later install). I have overheard my hardware guys say something to this effect and I’m fairly sure MS can offer most, if not all, patches either way.
I use automatic updates, am I going to get it?
I’m not sure. I just have notify me if aviable checked on mine.
If it's nonessential I assume they will leave it up to us to download.
