Edsel's brakes didn't have a hydraulic computer automatically redistributing stopping power to each corner of the car by determining G force with a simple trolly/lever system under the brake button.

Yes, button, the throttle was a small metal rod so that to get on the brake you just pivot your foot instead of lifting you leg and moving it over to the brake pedal (oh, mon diux, how crude).

You see, at speed, pivoting the foot is faster, could be the dif. btw. crashing and not crashing.

The folks who built this comfy car on a dirt floor factory had made the rash decision that not crashing was better.
