Again, there is nothing in the article to suggest he used poor judgement. His parents may have undereducated him on all aspects of his task, but he, the kid, performed quite well.

He made a good shot, he immediately informed his father when things went awry and he has publicly taken responsibility for his actions.

It would be nice if some of the hooded PETA protestors or Earth First types twice his age would display half the good sense this kid has displayed.

BTW, stray cats BECOME feral depending on the harshness of the environment they encounter and the ordeals through which they suffer. Many cross a line never to return.

You might be surprised at the number of peace loving hippie types who will defend song birds against all enemies domestic or feral by any means necessary.

This kid at least had the grace to defend endangered game birds.

I anxiously await the outcome of this little fandango and wish him well.

Best regards,

Except that he shot a domesticated animal, and on top of that, left the animal alive in extreme pain.

He made a good shot, he immediately informed his father when things went awry and he has publicly taken responsibility for his actions.

He made a bad shot wounding the animal and leaving it alive, and only came forward after it became public.

This kid at least had the grace to defend endangered game birds.

Except that quail aren't endangered.

I think you are way off on your thinking....the kid tries to kill ...probably someones pet.....because of his feelings about a bird? ...and you condone his behavior?
Although you do mention that the parents neglected to teach him correctly ..so I'm glad you admit what he did was wrong.
