so was it just me, or was the whole Jacob storyline very--self-sacrificial? First he visits every Lostie (of the O6), and gives them each something (except for Sayid).

Then he goads--virtually asks--Ben to kill him. He knew why Ben was there ("So you finally found your loophole") and allowed Ben to stab him anyway.

It looks very much like the Christ story to me.

Agreed, it makes the Losties Jacob’s disciples, while Ben plays the role of Judas.

We had a flashback of Juliette and her parents. I missed who her father was, but it did look a bit like Jacob. I know he:

Appeared when Sayid’s wife was killed to distract Sayid.
Appeared when Sawyer’s father/mother were buried to give a pen.
Appeared when Kate was stealing, to pay for her lunchbox.
Appeared at Sun/Jinn’s wedding, to wish them well.
Appeared when Hurley was leaving jail, shared cab (now we know where the guitar case came from).
Appeared at hospital for Jack’s surgery shake up, rescued his candy bar.

Juliette’s father? or not?

Christ story? That is so funny, because Jacob surely resembled the Christ in “Seven Seals” with Do’me Moore and I thought of that when I first saw him.

ooooh - you are probably going to have to wait until January.

You know what my problem is?

Yeah - it stinks their plane crashed, but I’m trying to figure out why the hell it makes sense to detonate a nuke - kill everyone on the island - destroy the island itself - just so their plane doesn’t have to crash.

Sawyer was right....”who the hell do you think you are?”

On no...you're probably right! I think I'll start again with season 1 from Netflix...that should tide me over.

That was great show, I couldn’t put it into words this morning. There was too much swimming in my mind.

1. I thought Miles’ question about whether they were the incident that set things off was key. it seems that kate saving Ben and giving him to the others was what made him what he was. Did they just doom themselves to the exact same circumstance? The destiny found teaser seems to say no, but who knows.

2. I am even more curious about the guitar case since it seems that Jacob gave it to Hurley. All the Jacob visits were interesting.

3. Ben’s reaction to John’s poignant recap of his dedication to the island and getting crapped on to show for it was great.

4. Who the heck is Alana and her group. Can they be widmore people? What’s up with the two Johns? Since I didn’t watch season one, can anyone tell me what happened to Christian’s body after the crash? Was it buried, because he appears to be pretty real when he shows up. Could he and John be in the same “state”?

5. Juliet has never showed so much emotion before this episode that I can really recall. She has always been very good at keeping the emotions in check. It was heartwrenching to see the end. I hope the destiny found for next year is happiness with Sawyer.

I am so glad the Pens had the Caps handily subdued by 9, so it made turning off the hockey to watch Lost easier. Last week I had to keep turning back and forth and it sucked.

In 1.04, Jack sees his father in the distance, walking around the jungle. Jack chases after him, but loses sight of him.

In 1.05, Jack sees his father again and does catch up to him, but his father turns and walks away. Jack chases after, but does not find him.

Later in 1.05, Jack finds where his father's coffin fell in the jungle. He opens it and it is empty.

Could he and John be in the same “state”?

Whenever we've seen Christian on the Island, he has not touched anything. He just appears at a distance, or merely talks to people (as when he does not help Locke at the bottom of the well). The "returned from the dead Locke" caught that boar, killed it, carried it on his back, and has done many other interactive things (e.g., carrying a torch, handing his knife to Ben, etc.).

I think there is a reason why we saw Jacob get killed before the bomb went off. Changing the time line doesn’t just rescue Daniel and Sayid.

Jacob was probably visiting the Losties because he needed them so he himself could be saved.

Did you see the beginning of the show when Jacob and the other dude were talking, and the dark haired guy said he wanted to kill Jacob and would find a “loophole?”

so -I’m thinking dark haired dude is the smoke monster, because we’ve seen the sm imitate appearances of others before.

So - Locke is dead. New Locke has to be dark haired dude who found a “loophole” - (which is why Richard tried to enforce the one visitor only rule)

Jacob pretty much egged Ben on.

I think that Alana - similar to Jacob and dark haired dude - is some sort of super-being - immortal whatyamacallit.

hmmmm...I’m confused as to how an H-bomb saves Jacob - but I’m game!
Since Jacob seems to be playing the role of Jesus being betrayed by a chosen follower - then I’m ready for an easter ending here!

I'm confused about Alana......when did she become more than just the cop taking Sayid back to the states?......I like her a lot.....but then again I liked AnaLucia,Charlie,Juliet, and Daniel, and the black preacher dude....forgot his name......

all I want is a happy ending....James with Juliet....Dez with Penny and their son......Daniel happy!...

I think Alana has always been “more” than just a bounty hunter.
I think she brought Sayid back because that was her role for Jacob - and she just gave a phony excuse.

Smoke monster being Locke. Wow. Never in a million years... the loophole comment made me think that something weird was going on, and I figured that the first scene was important or it wouldn’t have been on.

Here’s a question. What happened to the kids that were taken? I did see a couple of shows in season one and didn’t a brother and sister get snatched? Shouldn’t they be with Richard?

IIRC.....a whole bunch of the “others” were sent to be safe in the “temple” about a million years ago.....anyone confirm that?

Things I Noticed - The Incident by Vozzek69
Posted by DarkUFO at 5/14/2009 11:12:00 PM

Last night when my head hit the pillow I realized something: The best season of LOST had just ended with the best episode ever. My opinion of course, but it was also my pillow. Way too many things to talk about, so no clever intro. Things I Noticed:

What Lies in the Shadow of the Statue? Red Snapper

Nothing could be cooler than opening the finale with this amazing scene. Delivering Jacob two minutes into the finale was awesome writing... waiting until the end to reveal him would've definitely been too little too late. In what's possibly the most pivotal scene in all of LOST, Jacob and the stranger in the dark shirt reveal an ageless battle between light and dark, fate and free will, maybe even between good and evil itself. All this while the Black Rock sails along in the distance, within the shadow of what now looks to be Anubis, jackal-god of death.

When I first saw LOST, I saw a group of hikers attacked by a polar bear on a tropical island. And I thought, “this is too cool, I gotta see more”

Then after seeing mini biography flashbacks, a crazy Frenchwoman, a hatch door in the middle of nowhere and the Black Rock, I didn’t think it could be any more awesome.

Then came the planted airplane on the bottom of the ocean. The Purge. Time travel.

And now the conflict between good and evil, light and darkness, faith and science, destiny and control. What other show on TV discusses philosophy and makes it great viewing???

Best show ever put on the small screen.
