In the South, what “well bless her heart” means, depends upon how it is said.

We had the best fun teaching visitors from Great Britain how to use the phrase. I’m proud to report that by the time they went home, they had it perfectly.

We GRITS (Girls Reared In The South) are sent to Charm School where we are taught to exclaim, “Bless your heart,” rather than F-You!

In my neck of the Mississippi woods, how it's said means everything.
