I have to admit, it was like taking a frying pan in the face when I realized I was an anachronism before I got off the launching pad. I was stunned, to say the very least.

I don't approve of bra straps showing, but it appears to be a “trend”. Trends were not tolerated in my mother's home. Classics, manners and quiet decorum were the only tolerated styles and behavior. Appropriate leave taking — especially on the part of children — was demanded. I spend half my time these days trying to figure out who is in the house or where they've gone. I wander around like a dolt going, “Hello? Anybody still here???”

Oh, and you only made a figure 8 in that teacup, you didn't stir as though you were making fudge. ;-) You dressed for dinner, learned how to direct the meal to set your guests at ease. Those days are long gone, my dear friends.

I guess it's all okay, but I have so much “stuff” that isn't used anymore. My son's fiancee says, “it's like walking through the doors and going back 20 years” — I hate to tell her, but it's more like 100. ;-)

We may be out of "fashion" and disappointed in current trends but we know what manners are and passed them along. My daughter was born when my sons were 10 and 14. She owns gloves, can pour tea and knows the difference between a hat and a bonnet. And her bra straps never show, won't wear low cut things and usually keeps her arms covered to her elbows. She has never liked showing "too much skin". I wear sleeveless but she won't. Finding prom dresses was a nightmare. She found chiffon jackets to wear over them. And was complimented by the boys on how she looked. Ladies never go out of fashion no matter what anyone says.
