Steve, mixed in with all the ribbing you’re getting (sorry but some of the advice is actually worth more than you’re paying for it...) was a pretty good suggestion, post 21 I think:
Sign up for your phone company’s onboard message service. It’s like a call answering machine, except it operates at the telephone switch, before the call gets to your house.
Set the number of rings to default to before it automatically answers and if you’re online your calls will flip over to message.
