Is John McCain our generation's Benedict Arnold?
Posted on 01/13/2009 4:29:06 PM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing
I just saw YET ANOTHER news clip from..... I dunno, human events. The source doesn't matter. What's happening? Amnesty. Who's involved? Of course, McCain.
I just cannot figure it out. I can't. Why?
If he gets amnesty passed, that by far overshadows every heroic/patriotic action he's ever done in his life.
Why would he do this?

Why would he do this?Same as President Bush and all the others. He thinks it will make Hispanics vote Republican. And/or he thinks it will stop people from calling Republicans "racist." And the rich Republicans who want cheap labor will have a continuous supply of it.

what have you done lately?
To: the invisib1e hand
Spending years in a POW camp does not make you a hero! It is what you do during that time that makes you a hero. Being a hero during a period in your life does not translate into heroic action thereafter in everything that you do. John McCain, in my opinion, has done some very bad things politically for many years. Just because he was a hero at one time does not excuse his treasonous actions now.
Name calling another FReeper does not counteract the logic of the other point. Your point, however, is that since he spent years in a POW camp gives John McCain a free pass forever is absurd.

“You go too far.
Bush supported amnesty bills as well.”
Using Bush as an example of why we should not criticize McCain does not do McCain any favors. I think Bush was an idiot for his position on this (and other) piece(s) of legislation. Yes, Bush kept us safe from terrorist attacks but he sure screwed everything else up.

You’ve got that right,invisible.
There is a sub-species, which slinks through this website : wrapping itself in our flag, and calling a patriot a traitor - even as it seeks to pull the nation apart.
Line them up together - if you could stand the smell - and you wouldn’t have 1/10th of 1% of John Mc Cain’s value.

I don’t see him as a Benedict Arnold simply because we knew what he was all along.

Juan MeCain wants to get even with us evil Conservatives, that's why. MeCain has never given up on his and Bush's Amnesty plan.
