“... along with several hundred Beanie Babies...”
Sitting at home? With your folks? And you off to college? You better send them an email RIGHT NOW and tell them not to get rid of any of that stuff.
For me it was my “Hot Wheels” collection.
For my father-in-law it was his baseball card collection!! (Babe Ruth, etc.)
Oh, they know not to get rid of it - plus, my brother and sister probably have a few of theirs mixed in, and my sister at least would throw a fit if anything was done with any of them without a chance for us to all sit down and sort them out properly and possibly trade (my grandmother’s memory was starting to slip, so we have as many as five of the same animal). Not that there’s much money in it, as they weren’t collector’s items to us, they were toys, and got played with and cuddled and thrown across the room at each other (they were the best things to throw at annoying siblings - heavy enough that you could aim well, and soft enough that they wouldn’t cause serious injury) on a surprisingly frequent basis so some are in pretty bad shape, but they’ve still got lots of sentimental value.
