I don’t understand New Hampshire (where I lived for a couple years in the 90’s).
For the longest time New Hampshire was a hardcore Libertarian (or small-l libertarian) state with a Buchananite streak. And the Manchester Union Leader was a great conservative-curmudgeon-libertarian-cranky newspaper that really captured that New Hampshire spirit.
But even when I was there it was doing the whacky transition to McCainism.
And today it’s becoming..... VERMONT (gag!). Soon they’ll have gay marriage and lesbian conclaves in Jackson and Lincoln.
It’s a very dispiriting situation and the passing of Mr. Galloway is yet one more waypoint in the New Hampshire that once was.
