As someone who has come close to losing a child, I can tell you that you have to work hard at not completely losing it. I am a practicing and pretty serious Christian...and that did not help for a while.
Let go and let God became a pretty common mantra for me.
At that point in a persons life, faith is tested seriously. And, if your faith—no matter what it is—helps you through it, then go for it.
Oh please.
Scientology probably has them putting the kid in a can and firing him into space.
Aliens will then pick him up and make a God of him.
Honestly, all faiths are not equal. Some are just nuts.
My sister’s baby died in my arms — as I reached over to hold him. He breathed his last breath, and we knew he was instantly gone. He was nine days old, and the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. Although Brandon would be 22 years old today if he would have lived, that memory lingers with me to this day.
Since I have become an adoptive mother of four within the last four years, I have never once allowed myself to ever picture what it would be like to lose one of my children. That is a waste of spirit for me. If I am ever in that position, God’s grace will sustain me, even though I am sure I would surely wish to die. It is a comfort, though, to have the full assurance that when my children do leave this earth, no matter what age they are, they will surely be in Jesus’ arms that very next moment.
