I do too, with first hand experience. Last December my MIL bought a new laptop. Couldn't find one with XP on it (she wanted to buy local, not online). Ended up with a MacBook from the Apple store-within-a-store at Best Buy.
This Christmas, wanted to buy a new computer for my oldest son (vanity/brag, 4.17 GPA due to straight As in AP and honors classes). He wants/needs a laptop because he has school work even over breaks when we like to travel. Again, no interest in Vista (wife has to use it at work and hates it). Also sick and tired of the MS BS, security holes, viruses, DRM nightmares, etc. Hence son got a new MacBook.
Thus, in my personal experience Vista is the prime reason OS X is eating Windows market share. Me, I'm a Linux guy. I wouldn't boot Vista if you paid me, literally.
I just hooked up my sister in law’s formerly Windows family with a Mac Mini. They needed a home computer that they could buy here and take back to Austria conveniently. We were all in Ft. Lauderdale at the same time, so I took them into the Apple store in the Galleria. They picked up an Apple TV, too. I took them through the basics at the hotel, and it looks like they are good to go!
