It has to do with our dial up server...It took hours to just download two pictures someone on FR posted to me last week....Locks up the computer/server

I’m not the only one on FR that has that problem....It’s a rural thang!

You can generally set your browser to not download pictures until you tell it to, or to download them after the text on a page, so you can be reading while the pictures come down.

How to do that varies by browser. But:

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools menu, click on internet options, select the advanced tab. Then uncheck "show pictures" and check "show image download placeholders". Then if you want to see an image, click on the placeholder.

In Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools,Options, click on the content tab and then uncheck "Load Images Automatically". Hope this helps. Hopefully they'll post as a PDF file, which you can then download at your leisure.

Hoosiermama you are not the only one with dial up...I live so far back in the woods that it is my option. Can be like watching paint dry. Rural life has its advantages but 21st century comms is not one of them.
