Is this something to celebrate?

I hardly think so!

Kicking God out of Science and our culture is nothing to get excited about. The consequneces of this are all around us - inlcuding electing a godless thug!

The textbook that Scopes used in class was George Hunter's Civic Biology, written with the help of eugenist Herbert Walter. Here are some quotes from the book:

"...anatomically there is a greater difference between the lowest type of monkey and the highest type of ape than there is between the highest type of ape and the lowest savage..." -- pg.195

"[Mongolians, Negroes, and the] highest type of all, the Caucasians, represented by the civilized white inhabitants of Europe and America." pg. 193-196.

""Useless Eaters"... "Hundreds of families such as those described above [Jukes, Kallikaks etc.] exist to-day, spreading disease, immorality, and crime to all parts of this country. The cost to society of such families are very severe. They not only do harm to others by corrupting, stealing, or spreading disease, but they are actually protected and cared for by the state out of public money... They take from society, but give nothing in return. They are true parasites. If such people were lower animals, we would probably kill them off to prevent them from spreading..." -- pg.263
