I do understand what you are saying and in many ways I agree. It will not happen in the way so many believe. It may not happen at all, and if it does it will not be anyone we actually like who starts it. They will be the poster children for who you don’t want your children to be. What happened at Waco and Ruby Ridge is an example. These are not admirable people and even if they, were they would not be portrayed that way in any media.

The conservative pundits will not back any group that rebels against the government no matter how illegitimate that government is. Those who do rebel are going to be utterly reviled by the majority of Americans and the ones who are willing to face that will be the first to break ranks. Fools, criminals, outcasts and losers are the ones who often start civil conflicts and revolts. So in fact some of the internet warriors you disparage may turn out to be part of those who do act. No one will really know until the day comes.

The military IMO will act against these domestic rebels who WILL commit atrocities. This is a civil war/conflict we are talking about and they are brutal and bloody affairs. The former Yugoslavia is the sort of conflict we are talking about with the rebels assigned the role of the villainous Serbs. The government will have the power, organization, internal security forces, and the military at its call. It will be a long drawn out and vicious affair and the ideals of those who begin it will likely mean much less by its end due to the course of events which will acquire a life of their own.

To avoid even the possibility of something like that every effort should be taken. I believe the court cases will ultimately fail and Obama will be sworn in regardless of what the constitution says. Too many people simply don’t care. If it is revealed afterwards that he is ineligible they will refuse to impeach him and will in all likelihood pass legislation to make their usurpation of power legal. Given that, I still think even a remote chance is better than none at all.

That, I fear, will be the final outcome.
