I believe she lived in Indonesia for five years. I don’t recall that she was in Pakistan. As far as I know she never lived in Pakistan? Indonesia, not Pakistan, I agree. Anyone have a link mentioning she ever lived in Pakistan

Ack, I’ve read so many threads. Try the very long one, the Bloggers one? I had read that 0bama mama had lived in Paki before, and that 0bama visited her there. But yesterday, I think it was, I read that she lived there for five years. It was in a detailed comment about the work she did, microloans, Ford Foundation, per diem work... Hmm, maybe in the Madelyn Dunham/Stanley Ann commie background thread? You know that one?

The micro-loan program the HI bank and Indonesian banks were involved with that Stanley’s mother was involved with may have been something Stanley got into since she had language talents. I believe there is material on the long thread regarding her travels to Pakistan but I do not recall that she lived there. If she was traveling into Pakistan it would possibly have been on an Indonesian passport.

"She became a consultant for the United States Agency for International Development on setting up a village credit program, then a Ford Foundation program officer in Jakarta specializing in women’s work. Later, she was a consultant in Pakistan, then joined Indonesia’s oldest bank to work on what is described as the world’s largest sustainable microfinance program, creating services like credit and savings for the poor."
A Free-Spirited Wanderer Who Set Obama’s Path

"Her anthropology in Indonesia was only part of Ann's focus. She had also worked in Lahore, Pakistan; New Delhi; and New York, helping to develop microfinancing networks that provided credit to female artisans in rural communities around the world. This was something she had begun in Jakarta for the Ford Foundation in the early 1980s, when she helped refine Bank Rakyat, set up to provide loans to farmers and other rural entrepreneurs in textiles and metalwork, the fields she knew best. David McCauley, who worked with her then, said she had earned a worldwide reputation in the development community. She had a global perspective from the ground up, he said, and she passed it along to her children, Barack and Maya."
Though Obama Had to Leave to Find Himself, It Is Hawaii That Made His Rise Possible

"In 1986, Dunham did a one-year development project in Pakistan. That year, mother and daughter took a two-week journey along the old Silk Route to China."

"Dunham's work for the Agricultural Development Bank of Pakistan was followed by stints at People's Bank of Indonesia and Women's World Banking in New York. She also did consulting work for the World Bank and USAID."
