You need to see the original. It was on AMC today. Really very interesting. Mild political propoganda by today’s standards.

It apparently won't be on AMC again until Dec 23rd.

Thank you for that review! FR reviews are the only ones where nobody (usually) has an economic interest in promoting it. We got a kick out of the ‘skinny chick’ line. ;o)

"You see, I myself have a pair of Beckinsale goggles that made Underworld much better than it otherwise would have been."

I got my pair from Amazon.com. They were reasonably priced there.

"1) I never saw the original, so this isn't going to be a comparative essay. " Stopped reading right there!

Indeed.

So, a short summary is that the first version had a robot named “Gort” who simply impersonated TN Senator Al Gort.

The new version is ABOUT Al Gort and his global warming initiative and happens to have a robot named Gort.

That IS true progress.

Gort, Beringa!

Don’t think I’ll be going to see it, but it causes me to recall one of my favorites. Watched it again just a week ago.

Keanu can’t act.

I don't care. Most of the time I'm just staring at his lips anyway.

Here is the problem with our world. Obama can’t lead but women vote for him. Keanu can’t act so we get piss poor movies. You girls are a big problem.

I agree, he’s a cutie. Not cute enough for me to watch this movie, though.

Yeah, I know. Thankfully, men aren’t like that. They admire Megan Fox for her talent and brains.

The original also s*cked. Its ‘50s-themed political message from the aliens was unilateral nuclear disarmament and the UN rules, otherwise, we destroy you...

....remarks that this is one of the few planets that can support complex life, and humans are a problem, so they've just got to go.

Isn't THAT the plot of "Independence Day"?
