“Indian” and even “Native American” are both racist terms, don’t you know. “Native” implies exclusion, and that’s racist (barf).
It’s tough to get more neutral than the quasi-favored “indigenous peoples of North America”.
We could just call them “people” or “Americans” or “American people” but then “the indigenous peoples of North America” wouldn’t reach the desired state of being separate but equal to other “American people” (which is “culturalist” but not “racist”?).
