Thanks for the kind words, truly most appreciated!
The lay-off was not timed with an eye towards kindness, just a bottom line, and she is not to be called back, so its a hunt for a new job. (Its damn hard to find decent jobs here, I know, because I was laid off in the industrial purge in 2001 and can’t get a mechanical job since. (Most of the engineering companies are gone now, a lot of low-paying ‘service’ jobs took their place. Even clerical jobs are now going to the younger (cheaper) set as well.) It also doesn’t help if your 62! They say they can’t hire you because your OVERQUALIFIED, and that’s that! I’m trying to make it as a writer, but marketing my books is difficult, as I really don’t know the right way to do it and don’t have the money anyway. I’ve been writing for several years now (39 books on lulu.com) but getting them out there takes ISBN numbers and promoting! This may all be moot anyway, as we’re likely to be getting the old Heave Ho from the apartment soon, so we will be ‘mobile’ in more then just our ability to get around. I gotta tell you, this has not been a good year. We will buckle down and forge on though, trust in God and see what we can make of next year. If God brings you to IT, He’ll bring you THROUGH it!
I’ll stop by when I can and see if I can torment you all with my bad jokes and poetry, if only to help you appreciate the good stuff! ;^)
