My pansies are still blooming by the front porch - so I am pretty sure we haven’t had a good freeze here in AZ yet. But we will - and I wonder what will happen to the couple of hummers that are still feeding off the hummingbird feeder. How do those little bodies stay warm with the temps dip?

LJ, I love your feeders!

Do you ever get snow where you are? We get freezing temperatures, but only when it is clear. When it starts to cloud up it almost always warms up just enough so we get rain instead of snow. It snows here in the central valley approximately every seven years or so...and then it just dusts the ground before it melts away. If you blink, you miss it.

I've still got a couple of roses blooming, but they are looking pretty sad. I will be cutting them all back next month because we always have an early spring. By February we will start getting some warm days - that is always what we hope for, anyway. Even though winter is short here, it is never short enough for me.

Isn't it interesting that pansies like the cold? They look delicate but they are actually pretty tough little flowers.
