Welcome To Sunday At Amy's Place

~Good Tidings Of Great Joy~

Luke2:1-20 ~ KJV
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
(And this taxing was first made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

What Child Is This?
This Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel . . . that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. —Luke 2:34-35

One of our most beloved Christmas carols was written in 1865 by William Dix, an Englishman who managed a maritime insurance company and loved to write hymns. Sung to the English melody “Greensleeves,” some versions use the latter half of the first verse as a chorus for the other verses:

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard
and angels sing;
Haste, haste to bring Him laud—
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

But in other versions, each stanza is unique. The second verse, rarely sung today, looks beyond the manger to the cross:

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear, for sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Simeon said to Mary, “This Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” (Luke 2:34-35).

The Child of Christmas came to be our Savior. “Joy, joy for Christ is born, the Babe, the Son of Mary".

The birth of Christ brought God to man; the cross of Christ brings man to God.

THE BRIGHTEST STAR

The brightest star in heavens sphere
Was long ago and far away
O'er Bethlehem it brought good cheer
And revealed a baby in the hay

Its light encircled round about
And formed a halo on his head
The Angels gave triumphant shout
And Magi by the star was led

A savior come from David's line
To bring Gods love and set men free
His miracles to be a sign
To cure the sick, let blind men see

And yet despised he suffered pain
And shed his blood for every one
But the blood, shed not in vain
Behold, said God, my only Son

When death's cold sting could hold Him not
His Father set Him on a throne
He will return for what He bought
His chosen bride, all truth be known.

I cry everytime I watch it - (as I send it to friends when they lose a pet.) It is not sad tho, just heart tugging, tender, sweet, and understanding.

PetLoss.com has a candlelight service every week for those who have lost a pet. They have a memorial board where you can post pictures and a tribute. The have a message board, poems, hot-lines and chat room. IOW, it is a very supportive place to visit, when one loses their pet, be it furry or feathered.
